North Richland Hills runs Very hard across the whole city

North Richland Hills draws a Fort Worth Water and Trinity River Authority blend, common across the Mid-Cities. Real readings across North Richland Hills's ZIP codes run 11 gpg, solidly "Very hard" on the standard scale. Older homes with original plumbing tend to show scale damage faster than newer construction.

Three things hard water is quietly ruining

It doesn't happen all at once — it happens every shower, every load of laundry, every time your water heater kicks on. Here's exactly what's going on.

Dry, flaky skin on hands from hard water

Your skin & hair

Hard water doesn't rinse soap and shampoo cleanly off your body — it leaves a mineral film behind instead. Over time that shows up as dry, itchy skin, dull or brittle hair, and soap that never quite feels like it worked.

Water heater element covered in thick mineral scale buildup

Your appliances

Every time hard water heats up, it leaves mineral scale behind — inside your water heater, dishwasher, washing machine, and coffee maker. That buildup makes them work harder, run less efficiently, and fail years before they should.

Copper pipe cut open showing thick mineral scale narrowing the interior

Your pipes & plumbing

Scale doesn't just build up in appliances — it builds up inside your actual pipes. Narrower pipes mean lower water pressure, more strain on your plumbing, and a higher chance of an expensive repair down the road.

gpg is the real target

Why we target under 1 gpg, not just "soft"

Most water treatment companies stop once you're technically "soft" — under 3.5 gpg. We don't. Many dishwasher and tankless water heater manufacturers specify hardness limits directly in their warranty terms, often requiring under 7 gpg and voiding coverage above 10-12 gpg. North Richland Hills's own water reads 11 gpg — already past that edge. Every whole-home softener we install (Essential, Complete) targets under 1 gpg, real margin, not just squeaking by.

Whole-home water under 1 GPG, or the install is free.

This guarantee covers our whole-home softener packages — Essential and Complete. Every softener uses the same 48,000-grain tank; what we size to your home is its regeneration schedule, calibrated to your North Richland Hills hardness reading and household size so it recharges at the right frequency. Get that calibration right and keep the salt tank filled, and your water will test under 1 grain per gallon. (Starter is a drinking-water-only RO system with no softener, so it isn't covered by this whole-home guarantee.)

Frequently asked questions

What's the actual difference between a softener, a filter, and an RO system?+
A softener removes the hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium) that cause scale buildup and dry skin — it treats your whole house. A carbon filter removes chlorine taste and smell, also whole-house. A reverse osmosis (RO) system is a separate, more thorough filter just for drinking and cooking water at one faucet. Most homes only need a softener; the other two are add-ons if taste or drinking water quality matter to you too.
Why don't you offer a free in-home water test?+
Because it's usually a sales visit, not a real test. City water hardness is already public record — we use that plus a short quiz to size your system accurately without putting a rep in your kitchen.
Is the price on this page really the final price?+
Yes. Each package is a flat, installed price that includes standard permitting and any code-required parts for that scope of work — for example, Complete includes the required backflow safety valve. The only thing that changes is the package itself.
Starter is $799, so why is adding the same RO system to Complete so much less than $799 extra?+
Because most of a standalone Starter visit's cost is the visit itself — a technician, permitting, and access, all for one small under-sink system. When RO is added onto a whole-home softener install, that technician is already on-site for the bigger job, so adding the RO unit is a smaller incremental step, not a second full appointment. You're paying for one visit, not two.
Do I need a softener if I already have decent water pressure?+
Hardness and pressure aren't related — hardness is mineral content, not flow. Most DFW ZIP codes run 10+ grains per gallon, which is enough to scale fixtures and appliances over time regardless of pressure.
How long does install take?+
Starter and Essential are typically same-day, a few hours, since each involves just one system. Complete adds kitchen work on top of the utility room, so plan for a fuller day — we'll confirm timing when you book.
Do you service well water, not just city water?+
Our packages above are built around city water in DFW. If you're on a private well, give us a call — well water often needs additional iron or sediment treatment beyond these packages.
